The Story of the 1904–1905 Welsh Revival

This is an in-depth look at the 1904–1905 Welsh Revival which was the largest Christian revival in Wales during the 20th century. While by no means the best known of revivals, it was one of the most dramatic in terms of its effect on the population and triggered revivals in several other countries. “The movement kept the churches of Wales filled for many years to come, seats being placed in the aisles in Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Swansea for twenty years or so, for example. Meanwhile, the Awakening swept the rest of Britain, Scandinavia, parts of Europe, North America, the mission fields of India and the Orient, Africa and Latin America.”

2 Chronicles 7:14-16 King James Version (KJV)
14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

15 Now mine eyes shall be open, and mine ears attent unto the prayer that is made in this place.

1 Once more, O Lord, we pray,
Put Thy strong armor on;
Strike down the shield of Satan’s pow’r;
Let victory be won.

Refrain:
Once more, O Lord, once more
Thy blessing we implore;
In Thy great name let vict’ry sweep
Thro’ Zion’s gates once more.

2 Lord Jesus, come today;
Let souls before Thee bow;
Be this Thine hour of triumph, Lord;
Oh, send salvation now. [Refrain]

3 Lord Jesus, come and reign;
Let error’s empire fall;
We long to see Thy glory shine,
And crown Thee Lord of all. [Refrain]

Assistance Needed

Hello Folks,I’m looking for help with content to share on the Ards & North Down Christian Community Hub, a service and resource for the local Christian community and those seeking to know more.

Local stories of salvation and faith

Local people involved in Christian arts/media/music or literature

Local people involved in mission and Christian charity work both home and abroad

Local Christian business people

Some news!

The first issue of “Stories From The Good News Letter” a booklet with local people’s stories of their journey to and with God is soon to be launched and made freely available throughout the Ards & North Down area.

This is a companion publication of “The Good News Letter” which is available now on the website in digital format https://ardsnorthdownchristiancommunityhub.com/the-good…/ and will also be available in digital format in the near future.

I am looking for assistance with its distribution to make it as widely available as possible. God willing this will be a quarterly publication.

If you can help and/or identify local shops or businesses that would be willing to have a booklet dispenser/small information poster/information cards I would be most grateful.

Yours sincerely,

David Gourley

“In this the love of God is known to us: for God sent his only Son to the world so that it shall live by him. God showed his love for us when he sent his only Son into the world to give us life. By this hath the charity of God appeared towards us, because God hath sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we may live by him.”

Pray for Afghanistan

O God of mercy and of peace,

We hold before you the peoples of Afghanistan.

Be living bread to those who are hungry each day.

Be healing and wholeness to those who have no access to health care amidst the ravages of pandemic.

Be their true home to all who have been displaced.

Be open arms of loving acceptance to those who fear because of their gender, ethnicity, religious or political views.

Be peace to those engaged in armed conflict and those who live within its shadow.

Turn our hearts and minds to your ways of just and gentle peace,

Open our eyes to see you in all acts of compassionate care.

Strengthen our hearts to step out in solidarity with your suffering people and hold us all in your unfailing love.

We pray in the name of Jesus Christ, who emptied himself of all but love in order to bring life in all its fullness. Amen

This prayer was written by Ramani Leathard,

Christian Aid’s Head of Region for South East Asia and Afghanistan.

Revival Sermon by Dr Martyn Lloyd Jones

Prayer for Revival

The church today is too regular, doing what other religions can do. Other religions can teach a man to be moral and just. Other religions can create a sense of community and friendship. Other religions can do good things in the community. Christians tend to be content with these small things; content with the unexceptional and ordinary condition of the Church. We must pray for revival. In this sermon on Exodus 33:12-17, Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones looks at the prayer of Moses, as Moses prays for more. God had returned to Israel and Moses is grateful for this, but he wants more. Dr. Lloyd-Jones explains that praying for revival is praying for something extra, something more. Revival is not ordinary. It is a special, unusual, and exceptional move of God. The Christian praying for revival is no longer satisfied with the ordinary condition of the Church. He prays for God’s glory to be shown. He cries for the “depths” that God may be known. True revival cannot be manipulated. The moment we believe this can be organized, we are in great danger. Listen in as Dr. Lloyd-Jones explains that church needs the power of God. The Holy Spirit must fall upon us, and we must be revived.
